You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the old one obsolete.
In the days of our ancestors, our stories were told around the fire to our tribe. We defined ourselves by narratives of heroism and sacrifice that told us who we were and how we identified our friends. Now, our stories reach millions and are binge-watched in the seclusion of our homes. But they can still work their magic, reaching deep into our frames of life and helping us to see the world differently.
Narrative Ark is a team of creators[/creative people] determined to transform the narrative of our times. No problem is solved from the mindset that created it – and our problems are many and complex. All of them, though, stem from the stories we tell ourselves about what success means, and how we get there. The old stories have brought us to the brink of extinction – we urgently need new ones.
How would the future look if we got it right from here on in? What does ‘getting it right’ even mean? Can we bring together the best of human creativity to weave a future in which the human and more-than-human worlds flourish?
These are the questions we have asked ourselves, and Narrative Ark is our answer-in-progress.
